Additional study information

UBC is recruiting for a stroke rehabilitation program.

TRAIL stands for ‘TeleRehabilitation with Aims to Improve Lower Extremity Recovery Post-Stroke.”

TRAIL includes two programs – one focuses on exercise, while the other focuses on teaching participants about stroke and self-management. Participants have a 50/50 chance to be enrolled in either the exercise program or the education program.

The education program is about managing post-stroke complications, risk factors and any other questions you might have.

Exercises include: Sit-to-stand exercises, Balance exercises (e.g., tandem stance, functional reach), Lower limb strengthening exercises. While the protocol is standardized, exercises can be adapted to each participant’s abilities.

The program has been tested with 16 stroke survivors, and following positive results is now being expanded to 100 new participants.
