
Join Post-Stroke Study
Researchers from the University of British Columbia (Dr. Brodie Sakakibara, Associate Professor, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy) are recruiting stroke survivors across Canada for a 12-month research study.
The study looks at self-management, health behaviours, and healthcare use after stroke.
Adults aged 50 and older who were discharged from hospital or formal rehabilitation within the past 6 months may be eligible.

What is required of participants?
- Total time commitment over one year is about 10 hours.
- Participants will complete questionnaires every 3 months and track physical activity using a small ankle step monitor.
Participate from home.
- This is a non-treatment research study.
- This study is approved by the UBC Behavioural Research Ethics Board, H25-01026

- Compensation for time and effort.
- Structured stroke recovery follow-up over 12 months.

What does the study involve?
The researchers want to understand how healthcare usage among post-stroke adults changes over time.
Participants complete surveys about health, mood, sleep, diet, and daily activities, and wear a step monitor for 4 days after each session.
Study visits can be completed from home by Zoom or in person.
