We use paid ads on social media platforms like Facebook and Youtube to find people excited to join your study.

We can analyze your study and offer one of two pricing plans:

1. A fixed price per referral.
This puts most risk on us – we only get paid if we find eligible referrals that meet your criteria. Only unique, real people that share phone numbers are counted. We replace any questionable referrals.

2. Flexible cost per ads shown.
This guarantees that your study gets out in front of a set number of people, and we send as many eligible referrals as we can. This plan is flexible in the sense that your criteria can change, and we can keep advertising without interruptions.

It took us a year and several thousand screenings to reach just 30% of our enrollment goal on our own. The remaining 70% came from Wayturn referrals over a 7-month period—and it could have taken less time if we’d had the staff needed to enroll faster.

Our recruitment process

1. Analysis

Before we decide to work with you, we analyze your study.

We look at all of your study documents and eligibility criteria. Our analysis is yours to keep, whether we decide to work together or not. You might discover that we recommend strategies that you can use regardless of our involvement.

The goal of the analysis is to determine how we can find participants for you, and what it will cost. If you decide that our figures are reasonable, we agree on the details and continue with the next steps immediately.

2. Promotional Materials

For our ads to be successful, we prefer to always write our own promotional materials for you to send to your IRB.

This includes images, videos and anything else we want to use to find your participants. You have the final say in what we can, and can’t include.

3. Technical setup

We create whole websites, landing pages, and questionnaires based on the needs of your study.

People who click on our ads come to a landing page on our website that describes your study, and if they want to join they fill out an online prescreening questionnaire created by us according to your eligibility criteria. Finally, eligible referrals are sent over to your team in a way that suits your needs.

If your study is large, it might make sense to create a separate website for it, rather than just a landing page hosted on our domain. We can handle all development and translation work required to get you up and running in no time.

4. Promotion

Once approved by your IRB, we start promoting your study. We run paid advertisements on Facebook, Youtube and Google among other sources – depending on the needs of your study.

Our goal with all promotion is to find people eligible to join your study, and have them pass an online questionnaire to leave their contact details or book a meeting with you. Since we only send you eligible referrals, the quality of the people you call is high and the enroll rate is optimal which helps save your time.

Furthermore…

  • Flexible at all times. We do not force you to accept referrals beyond what you can handle or require, all advertising can be slowed down or sped up. You can tell us to stop, pause or slow down at any time.
  • Referral quality guarantees. Wayturn replaces any referrals that are deemed malicious, fraudulent or are duplicates at no cost. We have systems in place to screen out referrals from the same IP addresses, other countries than your eligibility criteria, and repeat offenders that try to complete many of our questionnaires.
  • Sensitive Data / HIPAA Compliance. Wayturn is adept at handling sensitive data, and have strict internal processes to minimize the risks involved in gathering participant’s contact and health information.

When I started advertising clinical trials, some researchers were still relying on noticeboards and radio ads (I won’t mention any names… You know who you are.) Suffice to say that the impact was quite noticable when they switched to Facebook, Google and Youtube ads.

I started my career working for T-fal (Tefal in Europe) as a digital manager. To switch from a large well known brand has allowed me to transfer my knowledge of consumer advertising and apply it to the clinical trial industry.
